Working day of a businessman
A: Hello Martin!
B: Hello Jack, it's so nice to see you again. How are you doing?
A: Not bad, thanks, and you? Do you still work for "Forester & Co"?
B: Yes, I do. Our General Manager, Mr. Forester appointed me his deputy. He is a good leader and I learn much from him.
A: What do you actually do?
B: Well, I have a very busy schedule, especially now, when Mr. Forester is out of London. So, I come to the office early in the morning and stay there particularly all day long. As soon as I come I start looking through business mail, newspapers and journals.
A: What do you look through the newspapers and journals for?
B: I am interested in the latest political and business events. I think it is very important to know the latest news. Then I receive visitors, most of them are our company's customers.
A: Do you receive visitors only in the morning?
B: No, I don't. I have lunch at 12 o'clock and then I have some more meetings in my job schedule during the day.
A: Do you often meet customers at the office?
B: Well, sometimes I meet with them in the restaurant at dinner time. And very often I discuss business matters on the phone with various trade organizations outside the country.
A: What do you discuss?
B: We discuss different matters relating to prices for different goods, terms of payment, shipment and delivery.
A: Does your company organize any trade exhibitions?
B: Yes, we take part in organizing the trade exhibitions in our country and abroad.
A: Well, you are so busy! And when do you come home?
B: Usually, I finish my work at 6 p.m., but sometimes I have to stay later at night. I'm sorry, Jack, dinner time is over and I really have to go.
A: Yes, certainly. It was nice seeing you. Good-bye, Martin.
B: Good-bye, Jack.

Working day of a businessman
On week-days I usually get up at 7 o'clock. I make my bed, open the window and do my morning exercises. Then I go to the bathroom where I clean my teeth and wash myself. If I have enough time I take a cold and hot shower. After bathroom I go back to my room where I dress myself and brush my hair. In 10 minutes I am ready for breakfast. It may be a cup of tea or coffee and a sandwich.
After breakfast I put on my coat, take the bag and go to university. As I live not far from university it takes me only ten minutes to get there. I don't want to be late for the first lesson so I come a few minutes before the beginning.
Our lessons start at half past eight in the morning and they are over at half past three in the afternoon. After classes I go home and have dinner there. But sometimes I go to the canteen and have dinner there.
After dinner I have a short rest, read newspapers, make some telephone calls. Then I do my homework. We study many subjects, so it takes me about two hours to do my homework. Sometimes I go to the library to get ready for my practical classes or to write a report. As a rule I have no free time on my week-days.
Eight o'clock is supper time in our family. We all get together in the kitchen, then go to the sitting room and watch TV, read books or discuss different problems. At about eleven at night I go to bed.

2. What do you do when you get up?
3. Do you do your morning exercises every day?

TEXT 2. MY DAY-OFF
Most people in our country work five days a week but students work six days. They have only one day off. It is Sunday.
I like this day very much. You needn't hurry anywhere and you may go wherever you like after your week’s work. On this day I wake up later than usually. But sometimes I don't get up till nine or ten o'clock. I read morning newspapers or listen to music.
As soon as I get up I air the room, make my bed and do morning exercises. Then I go to bathroom and have breakfast. Two more hours for getting ready with my homework and I am free. I meet my friends and we discuss our plans together. We may go to the cinema or theatre, to museums and parks. In fine weather we also like to be out of town. We find a nice place somewhere in the forest or on the bank of the river and have a picnic.
In the evening all the members of our family get together. We have supper, make plans for tomorrow, watch TV or read books. Sometimes we receive guests at our place or go for a walk. I enjoy my days off very much.
1. What time do you get up on Sunday?
2. What do you do in the morning?
3. How often do you spend the week-end with your parents?
4. What is your hobby?
5. How do you usually spend the evenings on your days off?
6. Do you sometimes receive guests on Sunday?
7. How do you usually spend your days off?
8. How did you spend your last Sunday?
9. How do you plan to spend your next Sunday?
